Frequently Asked Questions related to joining and management of the waiting list.


We are privately owned company open to all.

Who is the club for?

The club is primarily for St. Dunstan’s KS1 Children.


Can children in KS2 join?

No. The club is not set up, resourced or staff for older children.


What are the times?

BC – 7.45am-8.30am

ASC – 3.10- 17.45


How much will sessions cost? Currently @

Breakfast Club at £7.00

Adhoc’s at £8.00

After School Club at £15.00

Adhoc’s at £16.00


Are there any other charges? 

Yes - Annual fee of BC - £10 & ASC £20

per child, towards materials, resources, maintenance & breakages.


How many staff will you have?

Up to three members of the team will be with the children (excluding volunteers/work experience).

A majority of the Team are Early Years qualified.


Are there any plans to increase the size of the Young Explorers Clubs?

No. Not currently, There are no plans to increase the size of the club as there are no rooms available on site for this purpose.


When can I add my child’s name to the waiting list?

In fairness to all parents, new families and those not familiar with the workings of the preschool prior to entry, parents may request an Application form for the waiting list can be obtained at any time during the academic year, if your child already attends St. Dunstan's.

If you are waiting to hear whether your child has been allocated a space at St. Dunstan’s School, and  confirmation has been received, you may apply for an application form, the child’s name will be added to the waiting list.

Please note this Application is for the waiting list, this does not guarantee a place.


How is the list managed?

Names will be added to the waiting list according to the date the request was received. Eg/ the day the application returned. A confirmation of receipt of the request to add a child to the waiting list will be sent to the parent in writing to ensure that there is no confusion about dates. If you do not receive confirmation within 48hours of your request then please contact the pre-school directly.


Allocation of Places:

Siblings of children already attending YEP Clubs will be given priority, (depending when application was received and if there is over subscription, this is subject to availability of places).

Although every effort will be made, this cannot be guaranteed.

- The Management Team reserves the right to use their discretion to allocate places to vulnerable children irrespective of the waiting list.


What happens if more than one request is received on the same day?

Applications received on the same day will be documented by time received.


If I am offered a place and I do not want to take it yet, will my child go to the bottom of the waiting list?

No. The child would remain where they were on the waiting list but the place would be offered to the next child. Places cannot be held.


How long will I get to consider whether I want to accept a place offered to me?

The place should be taken up as soon as possible after the place was offered within 48hours at the latest.

If the place is not taken up within 48 hours  it will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.


Who should I contact if I have any queries about my application or my child's place on the waiting list?

The admin office is responsible for managing admissions and waiting list. Please put all requests in writing.


Do you have access to outside space?

Yes we have use of the secured play area you can see outside. These gates are securely locked at all times.


How will you communicate with parents?

Upon collection of your child/via emails or telephone.


Can I come in and see where my child will be attending?

Yes, please contact YEP between the hours of 9:00am – 15:00- to make an appointment.


What about Snack/Drinks?

Snack time is provided with a menu of the day.  Snack consists of a starter of fruit/vegetables followed by freshly prepared sandwiches, bagels, rolls, pitta etc.  Filled with various healthy options of child's choice, eg tuna, ham, cheese, jam, and other daily choices.  Yoghurts, squash/milk/milk shakes/water available daily (water will be always available throughout the session).


What if my child has allergies?

Please inform the Team Management, and you will be asked to provide this information upon the Application/Registration form.

Please note once accepting a place you will need to fill in an Allergy/Medication permitted to administer form.

Epi-Pens/Jext Pens need to be brought in with your child daily.


Where are the toilets?

The toilets are located within the room.
